Sony Ericsson CEO: Google asked us to build the Nexus One, we refused

Aw, why don’t these CEOs say stuff like this in press conferences ? Sony Ericsson’s head Bert Nordberg has shared with Swedish publication Sydsvenskan the rather salacious news that his company was asked to build the so-called Google phone before HTC … and it turned down the opportunity. Fearing brand dilution or something equally crazy, Nordberg states that Sony Ericsson is committed to building only its own-branded hardware and will not be a subcontractor to anyone. Haughty words from a company whose own Android device is still a good couple of months away from hipsters’ pockets, but we’re sure Bert knows best. After all, it’s not like HTC got a…

Sony Ericsson answers your nagging X10 questions, ‘newer version’ of Android will come

While we all continue to twiddle our thumbs in anticipation of the X10’s general availability, Dutch site Tweakers took some time out with Sony Ericsson’s Jacob Sten to get a few pressing questions from the community answered. It’s quite a test — Sten fielded over 80 questions in all — and there were a few big takeaways that should be of interest to anyone who’s got even glancing interest in putting this thing in their pocket in the next few months. First off, it’s still scheduled to launch with Android 1.6 Donut, but his words along with a post over on SE’s official Product Blog give…

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 heading to AT&T

Man, the loot you can uncover when you go snooping around spec pages. That most ambitious of Sony Ericsson projects, the XPERIA X10 , is still a long way from being released, but already we can narrow down the list of potential US carriers to just one: AT&T. The guys over at Phandroid were the first to spot the newly added UMTS frequency specs for the phone, and the available 800/850/1900/2100 bands fit only AT&T’s 3G network . That’s gonna be a bitter pill to swallow if you were looking for something like (or better than) an iPhone, but were put off by the wireless provider. Then again, with pre-order prices for unlocked …

Sony Ericsson Rachael Android UI Revealed on Video

After we’ve seen the Rachael teaser yesterday, today we get a glimpse of its user interface. The Sony Ericsson phone is going to be released on Tuesday, November 3 but it looks like Sony Ericsson wants us to see more and more of its capabilities already. In this demo you’ll see how Rachael deals with multimedia

New Sony Ericsson Rachael UI video hits, still looks nothing like Android

Calling this Rachael UI an Android “skin” is like calling Windows 95 a “DOS skin,” but that’s not to say there’s nothing to love about it. In fact, we’re rather relieved that Sony Ericsson seems to be addressing Android’s incredibly lackluster media playback interface, the SE “mediascape” version of which dominates this particular video — a sequel to the first Rachael UI tease we got back in July . You know what else is great? The video title name drops the same lucious screen resolution as the DROID, 480 x 854, which spells all sorts of good things for SE’s first Android entry. Video is after the break, and if that doesn’t do the trick …

Is this Sony Ericsson’s Android-powered XPERIA X3?

As always, Mr. Blurrycam isn’t doing us any favors here, but we’re cautiously optimistic that the image you see above is one of the first real glimpses at Sony Ericsson’s forthcoming XPERIA X3 . Granted, the WinMo-packin’ X2 is still in its infancy, but every true SE fanboy knows that Android is where it’s at. The skin , which is obviously early in development, is definitely unlike anything we’ve ever seen, and while we can’t make out much about the hardware, the general shape certainly jibes with what we’d expect an X3 to look like. Le0n_Pro’s original post is down there in the read link, but we just couldn’t leave well enough alone; thankfully, he was kind enough to gift …

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 to launch in France within two months?

According to the French (who we’d like to take this opportunity to thank for Histoire de Melody Nelson ), the WinMo 6.5-packin’ Xperia X2 (which we got our hot little hands on about two weeks ago) will be hitting store shelves in France “within two months” from now. The cited price, some €600 (about $880) doesn’t take carrier subsidies into account, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for that bit of information. We’re looking forward to seeing how that new OS handles itself outside of the realm of preproduction, although the resistive touchscreen nature of the device doesn’t give us much hope. Salut! This Isn’t the Sony Ericsson Jalou

We’d like this picture to be a leaked shot of a certain upcoming touchscreen phone, the Sony Ericsson Jalou, but unfortunately it isn’t. The photo shows a modified W995 so we’ll have to wait for the real Sony Ericsson Jalou to come out. On a different note, the Jalou will offer you a 3-inch touchscreen, WiFi support, HSDPA connectivity and it will run on Symbian S60 5th Edition. Anyone really interested in a Symbian Sony Ericsson phone? via idnes Related Posts Sony Ericsson Launches Entertainment Unlimited In what is deemed to be a pinnacle of what generalizes the whole business effort of Sony Ericsson, S… Sony 530c FCC Approved Sony has just approved the…
