Lance Armstrong apparently wants an iSlate

Why is Lance Armstrong panting so heavily in this picture? Because he just “can’t wait to get the new iSlate”. Actually, I don’t know why he’s got his tongue out in this pic, I just used the image from babble.com. However, that part about him panting after an iSlate is true, honest.

Samsung to follow up the ultra cheap Corby with the even cheaper Corby Pop

Samsung already managed to get the Samsung Corby down to a surprisingly dirt-cheap price tag, packing in a 2.8″ touchscreen, 2 MP camera, and FM radio for less than $200 bucks — unlocked, and without contract. It seems that wasn’t enough, however – according to the latest whispers from the rumor mill, they’re aiming even lower. According to Unwired View , Samsung’s cracking away at a new uber-cheap handset called the Corby Pop. There aren’t any pictures of the Corby Pop yet – in its place, please accept this picture of a ham sandwich. The new handset purportedly maintains the touchscreen…

TouchFLO3D 2.5 Gets Documents Tab

The ever diligent folks over at the XDA-Developers forum have managed to dig up a rather interesting detail on the coming TouchFLO3D 2.5 from HTC. The latest addition to it would be the documents tab, which features documents from your My Documents folder. There isn’t much detail as to which formats are supported just yet, but from the picture, it’s obvious that Adobe PDF is supported. Would you welcome this feature on your HTC phone, or are you nonchalant about it? Permalink: TouchFLO3D 2.5 Gets Documents Tab from Ubergizmo | Hot: Nokia Booklet 3G Review

An app with everything but sales

Topics: Gaming , iPhone , App Store TriplePoint PR’s site has a post on their blog about Orbital [ iTunes Link ], an iPhone game released a while back that I presume is one of their clients. Obviously, they’ve done their job: we’re talking about the game, which is $.99US or available in a lite free version [ iTunes Link ]. But they’ve also provided us with a little insight into just how things are going in the app’s release, and they picture they paint says “not well.” Oh, sure, it’s been reviewed well , there’s a little bit of buzz about it, and the game itself, says the firm, is good (trust them at your…

LCD price fixing investigation reaches $860 million in total fines, Chi Mei latest to ‘fess up

It’s not every day we get to cite an official US Department of Justice news release, so it’s with a certain glee that we can announce the US taxpayer was last week enriched by another $220 million courtesy of the not-so-fine folks who swindled him out of that money in the first place. Joining the ignominious ranks of LG, Sharp , Hitachi and Chungwa Picture Tube , Taiwanese manufacturer Chi Mei is refunding the US state for the pecuniary impact of its collusive practices, which were primarily related to keeping prices artificially high and profits proportionately inflated. US companies directly affected by…

Holiday apps that’ll make your Grinchmas merry

Topics: Gaming , Holidays My wife is probably one of the biggest Grinch fans out there. Yes, we have Grinch holiday decorations and end up watching the movies several times throughout the holiday season. We’re sitting at 3 times already… I’m praying we don’t pass 5. It’s not that I don’t like The Grinch — the animated or Jim Carey version — I’m usually not a multiple viewing kind of guy. To help fuel her love — or obsession — the folks over at Oceanhouse Media have partnered with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to fill our holiday minds with the Grinch. The first app in the iTunes App Store is called “Grinchmas” [iTunes Link] . It’s a simple game where you choose to be a mean or a …

Barnes & Noble Nook Review [Ebook Readers]

It’s a relief to finally lay hands on the Nook. The dual-screen reader was just a prop at its unveiling so I’m happy to report it works (pretty) well. It can’t kill Kindle yet, but it’s an alternative worth considering. A Two-Horse Race Do this now: Disregard all other ebook readers on the market besides Nook and Kindle. Unless you plan to get all of your books from back-alley torrents, or stick to self-published and out-of-copyright PDFs, you are going to need a reader with a good content-delivery system, one it connects to directly via wide-area network. And as …

The Canon 7D loves inclement weather, even at Antarctic levels

More and more the 7D looks like the camera for me. Not that I go to Antarctica a lot, but when I do trek about, my camera comes with me rain or shine. My old 350D/Rebel XT survived quite a torrent in Kyoto, but I wouldn’t trust it or my newer Rebel XSi in a blizzard. Luckily, my job can be done from home; I don’t have to crawl on my belly through frozen mud and risk seal bites every day at magic hour. This guy does. Ole Jørgen Liodden does field reviews of Canon gear, and he recently took the new 7D down to Antarctica…
