Better MultiMediaCards: Toshiba announces world’s first 64GB embedded NAND flash memory module

Toshiba has announced today the launch of the world’s first 64GB NAND chips that are fully compatible with the so-called e-MMC standard (embedded MultiMediaCard) established last year. The new modules were produced by combining 16 32Gbit NAND chips with Toshiba’s proprietary 32nm process technology and include a controller. The modules are just 30mm thick and can be used in smartphones, netbooks and digital cameras. You’ll be able to store 1,070 hours of music or 8.3 hours of full HD video on them. Toshiba says samples are already available and mass production (3 million units a month) will start next month. The company introduced 32GB NAND packages just in spring this year.

Intel’s 32nm Clarkdale CPUs moved up to Q4, a full year ahead of AMD?

DigiTimes adds that Intel expects Clarkdale CPUs to account for 10% of its total desktop CPU shipments in Q4 rising to 20% in Q1 2010. That means we should see the chips well before …

If that’s actually a real, functional pre and not a mock-up or a well-done knockoff, it looks like accessory manufacturers have began getting shipments of the much coveted Sprint handset. An anonymous Ludle employee tipster just posted a few shots of the Pre alongside a Centro and an iPhone, noting a few things: The screen is less scratch resistant than the iPhone The back of the handset is more scratch resistant than the iPhone, but much more susceptible to finger prints It’s in mass production, right this second. …

Cyberdyne said to be mass producing $4,200 HAL robotic suit

Years after the HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) suit first debuted , it seems that Cyberdyne’s pride and joy is about to get really real. According to a report over at HPlus Magazine , the company is linking up with Daiwa House in order to “begin mass production” of the cybernetic bodysuit . You already know what it does — inflates the ego, boosts your strength and scores you loads of nerd dates — but here’s the crucial part: $4,200. Of course, there’s no hard date on when the first of the 400 annual units produced will be made available, but we’d probably get up with someone about a pre-order if you’re serious about …
