Inbrics M1 is the thinnest Android slider we’ve seen, probably everything we ever wanted

We don’t know what everybody else in the phone business has been doing lately, but Inbrics has just unveiled what looks to be the near-ultimate Android phone. The Inbrics M1 is a slider handset with a (great) 3.7-inch WVGA OLED display, 3 megapixel camera, front-facing VGA camera, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD slot and all the other usual trimmings, but what’s particularly stunning is that the phone is not only half an inch thick, but it has a full QWERTY keyboard that’s surprisingly clicky and typable. The phone is running Android 1.5 right now, but it should be up to Android 2.0 by the time it hits the market in March. The biggest concern is the 800MHz Samsung processor, the same chip that’s …

Android Finally Gets An Official Yammer App

Finally. Over a year after iPhone users got their native Yammer fix, Android has an official Yammer application available on Android Market. The application, while still fairly basic, comes with support for most of Yammer’s core functionality. If you use Yammer and you have an Android phone, you’ll want this app. We can’t link directly to the app because Google still hasn’t launched a strong web presence for the Market, but you can find it by running a query for “Yammer” from your phone. The new application is actually derived from the codebase of Yowl, a third party app for Android that Yammer acquired a couple months ago. CEO David Sacks says …

Location-based mobile advertising platform AdLocal enters America with years of Japan Know-how

Mobile advertising is poised to become a huge growth area, with research firm Kelsey Group seeing the market grow from just $160 million in 2008 to $3.1 billion in 2013. eMarketer projects mobile advertising spending in the US will balloon from $648 million in 2008 to over $3.3 billion in 2013. While some believe search will account for the biggest chunk of the market, others expect geo-aware advertising, another way of bringing “relevant” ads to users, to have a bright future, too. This is where AdLocal , a location-based, self-service mobile ad platform that (re-)launched yesterday, comes in. Offered by Sunnyvale-based Cirius Technologies USA , the platform has been around in Japan since 2006, currently commanding the largest share …

iPhone Holds 46 Percent Of Japanese Smartphone Market

The fact that the iPhone grabbed 46 percent of the Japanese smartphone market is certainly a nice headline, and there’s no denying that it’s an achievement. The only thing that dampens this mood slightly is that the smartphone market in Japan isn’t all that big, as the cell phone scene is dominated by cell phone lineups from carriers that have a whole range of different offerings ranging from mobile TV, perfume holders and all sorts of weird stuff that you generally only see in Japan. If you take a look at the cell phone vendors’ market share in Japan, you’ll see the giants such as Sharp, Panasonic, Fujitsu…

Google downsizes AndroLib’s Android Market app count by a few grand

A stout 20,000 apps in the Android Market, eh? Not so much, according to none other than Google itself — which, with all due respect to original counter AndroLib — has a little more street cred here, especially when they’re deflating the numbers rather than inflating them. A spokesperson for the company told us this afternoon that “there are currently more than 16,000 free and paid apps in Android Market” without specifying paid-to-free breakdown or differences among regional Markets, so we don’t much basis for figuring out where Google’s number comes from; we’d count it ourselves, but we’ve… uh, we’ve got dinner plans this evening. So until someone can conclusively prove otherwise, we’re going to say that the Market has yet to crack the 20K mark in any region where the …

Confirmed: Google To Power Search, Ads On Mail.ru Starting January 2010

Earlier this month, we reported that Google would be replacing Russian search leader Yandex as the default search engine and ad server on Mail.ru , the most popular online destination in the country with more than 50 million unique monthly users. This morning, Mail.ru confirmed (in Russian) that it will be replacing Yandex with Google as its default search provider starting January 2010. The company noted that Mountain View will indeed refrain from branding the search engine with the Google name and logo like it usually does. As we wrote earlier when word got out: Mail.ru has an estimated 10% search share in Russia, behind Google with 23%, but both pale…

ViewSonic VNB102 Laptop

ViewSonic has released a new laptop called VNB102 which can be considered a bit “poor”, that is, if you compare it to other laptop models in the market. The ViewBook VNB102 boasts an Intel Atom N270 with a 10.1-inch display screen, and only 1GB of memory RAM, and it doesn’t even feature bluetooth. Obviously it has

Hello Kitty DK-133KT LCD TV

Don’t you think that there are more than enough Hello Kitty devices that have flooded the market? Well, if the answer is negative, how about the latest Hello Kitty DK-133KT LCD TV to tickle your senses? This 13.3” LCD TV will come with an integrated digital TV tuner alongside a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels, which means no full high definition support here. Ah well, it doesn’t matter that much anyways considering this misses out on an HDMI port which is a strange thing to exclude in this day and age. The scourge of Hello Kitty products continue… Permalink: Hello Kitty DK-133KT LCD TV from

Oppo S33 portable media player

Oppo has also introduced its S33 portable media player that doesn’t really differentiate it from other PMPs in the market, especially those from Korea and China. After all, how many times have you seen support for a plethora of audio and video file formats, a Flash user interrface and a built-in G-sensor within a PMP? The Oppo S33 has all that alongside 4GB of internal memory and a 3″ TFT LCD with 480 x 272 resolution. No idea on pricing just yet though… Permalink: Oppo S33 portable media player from Ubergizmo | Hot: Palm Pixi Review
