Video: The LG eXpo’s projector accessory gets demoed

Outside of a completely simulated appearance in a commercial , we’ve been hard-pressed in finding any video of the LG eXpo’s projector attachment in action. We expected to see some hit the Tubes after the handset launched last week – alas, the projector accessory still hasn’t hit the shelves . Fortunately, the guys over at MobileSyrup have managed to scrounge one up north of the border. Their verdict? It “looks good” (looks a bit dim to us, even in the blacked out room) but the projection unit gets surprisingly warm with use. That’s probably pretty unavoidable given the concept of slamming a projector …

Projector-packin’ LG Expo gets delayed

If you were gettin’ all antsy in the pantsies about yesterday’s launch of the LG Expo and it’s detachable projector accessory, you might be a bit bewildered right now. A full day later, AT&T’s still showing no sign of the handset. WMExperts did a bit of digging, and found out that the Expo has been delayed for at least “a few days” due to shipping issues. When this sort of stuff happens, it’s generally because a cargo ship coming from Asia had to turn around for one reason or another, or otherwise never left the port. There’s no word just yet on a new ETA for the…

FLO TV for iPhone proof-of-concept caught in the wild

We don’t know if watching TV on a 3.5-inch display is your bag, as it were, but it looks like Qualcomm is moving onward and upward with its plans for FLO TV on the iPhone . Not too many details at the moment, just some pics that Electricpig snapped of a handset running a proof-of-concept app that relies on an external device for reception, streaming re-runs of Mayberry R.F.D. to your handset via WiFi. No word yet on the when this device might actually go “prime time,” but with any luck the five pocket TV enthusiasts out there may someday be…

It’s Google’s world and handset makers just live in it

When the Motorola Droid launched this month everyone was amazed that a company so down on its luck was able to put together a well-designed phone running a powerful, “brand new” OS. The whole package - hardware, software, and marketing - seemed flawless. In fact, phones running Android 1.5 now look hopelessly outdated and with 2.0’s gesture, CDMA, and search support you’d wonder why handset manufacturers like HTC, LG, Kyocera, and Samsung are using 1.5 at all. The reasons have more to do with Google than any decision on the carriers’ part. In fact, according to a source close to the handset business, Google’s Android team directly assisted Motorola …

HTC has unleashed a new smartphone with a spacious 4.3-inch touch-sensitive screen and a five-megapixel camera. Even better, the new HD2 can even function as a 3G wireless router for other devices such as a laptop, the company said. The HD2 is also the first Windows device to ship with HTC Sense — a customized interface for enabling handset users to function in a more simple, natural and personal way. For example, users can choose to run with an animated background as well as place shortcuts to people, web sites, or applications on the home screen. This makes the new smartphone “more simple and natural to use by enabling people to personalize their mobile experience in their own unique way,” said…
