Man-powered wooden digital clock (but is it art?)

It may be an art installation, but this “digital” clock, operated for 24 hours straight by a group of staunch Dutchmen might fare better as a desktop widget. I suppose it’s meant to say something about the nature of time, and perhaps it does, but this is a gadget blog, not the MOMA coffee shop. Go, you. Talk about it there. You can buy it in their shop , and the DVD includes a tool that synchronizes the movie with your computer’s clock. It’s like one of those little virtual dancing ladies, but slightly more practical. Aleratec DVD/CD Shredder XC

The name Shredder has always been associated with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ nemesis, mainly due to the diet of cartoon in the era I grew up in, but as one enters adulthood, one will realize that shredders aren’t out there to take over the world, but more likely cover up your tracks of documents. This time round, the Aleratec DVD/CD Shredder XC does what it says - shredding whatever optical discs that you own so that data within cannot be read or retrieved, attempting to do so would be placing yourself in the shoes of all the king’s horses and his men in piecing Humpty Dumpty back together again. Expect the Aleratec DVD/CD Shredder XC to retail for $74.99. Permalink: Aleratec DVD/CD Shredder…

Dragon’s Lair ships for iPhone and iPod touch

Topics: Gaming , Software , Developer , iPhone , App Store Guys, if there was any doubt that the iPhone is a serious application platform, just go ahead and put it to rest right now — Dragon’s Lair has officially been ported over . The Don Bluth-animated laserdisc game was immensely popular upon release in 1983, and since then has been ported to almost every single system that can run it. Now, the iPhone joins those ranks, and seems well done. If you want to play the original Arcade mode, you can, though apparently it’s so original that not even the developers recommend it — you end up skipping sequences …

MiKandi: The World’s First Porn App Store for Android [Android Apps]

The only reason VHS won over Betamax was because of porn. And HD DVD very nearly eclipsed Blu-ray (sorry to bring up bad memories) due to Sony’s reluctance to allow adult entertainment publishers onto its format. Now, Android’s 16,000 apps haven’t scared Apple yet, but an alternative app store that’s sprung up could see Apple’s prudishness be its downfall. MiKandi is a white label app store for free and paid-for apps, allowing developers to upload more content around their filthy apps—including YouTube tutorials if you’re so inclined. Asking developers “Maybe you’re feeling like your innovative juices are being squeezed by not having the screenshots or video you need to properly showcase and sell your product?” they promise not to restrict any app …

Gifts For Pervs Who Like Like Gadgets [Gift Guide]

Everyone knows a Quagmire or a Masuka that enjoys their gadgets as much as they enjoy themselves—or rather, they enjoy using their gadgets TO enjoy themselves. This is for them, or for you, if you’re buying under an alias. Those of you who hate the gallery format can see it all on one page by clicking here. Oh, and basically everything in this post is NSFW. The Fleshlight : There are many flavors to the Fleshlight—you can now even custom design it to your specifications—but the base idea remains constant through all of them. It’s a plastic flashlight you place your junk into. The sensation is halfway between your hand and a real person, which explains its popularity …

Sony streaming Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs free to new customers, expensively to existing ones

It wasn’t long ago that Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was packing theaters, but given how quickly things hit DVD and Blu-ray these days we’re surprised to learn this one won’t be flinging vermicelli to disc until just after the holidays. Fear not carb-lovers: similar to the Hancock deal last year , new purchasers of internet-capable Sony TVs and Blu-ray players will be receiving one free stream of the film starting on December 8; that’s nearly a full month ahead of the retail release. The stream will be in 720p and will allow full control during 24 hours. What if you’ve already purchased your Sony setup? The company is happy…

5 Important Web Video Lessons for Small Business Owners

This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum , where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business. There are 25 billion videos watched each month in the US alone. That’s billion , with a “B.” So it should be no surprise that web video offers an important opportunity for small businesses to connect with a wider audience. For small business owners, online video represents a chance to reach thousands or potentially millions of people using a relatively simple and inexpensive format. All it takes is a video camera and a little time, and your message …
