Music Planet waterproof speaker ball makes bath time more melodic

Remember that waterproof Bluetooth speaker that you picked up last summer after none other than Billy Corgan endorsed it ? Here’s comes round two. Available exclusively in the Land of the Rising Sun ( surprised ?), the Music Planet speaker ball is IPX7-certified to shrug off water damage for up to 30 minutes at a depth of one meter, and it’s designed so that the speaker itself sits just above the water line. Internally, you’ll find an FM radio tuner, an SD / SDHC card slot for loading up MP3 files, a USB socket (good luck with that non-waterproof thumb drive) and an alarm clock. You know, in case you fall asleep underneath two feet of soapy water. Power comes from six AA cells, which provides …

Thodio A-Box Speaker

Are you looking for a rugged MP3 speaker to blast out your favorite tunes when you’re away from civilization? The Thodio A-Box Speaker might just fit the bill, especially since it’s contained inside a retro ammo box. Despite it being in such a container, the maker of this speaker claims that all the necessary precautions to maintain its high quality sound have been put in place. The vibration dampening material helps to keep the sound at an accepted quality. At the very least, if you bring it with you for a picnic, at least you’ll have an interesting conversation piece, right? Growin’ Up Speaker System Design Rooted in Trees [Speakers]

“Larry, your new speakers look great, really they do. But…something’s off. I can’t put my finger on it, but they just sound, I dunno, kind of wooden . You know?” Because they’re inspired by trees! Haha. I kill me. Anyway, really , designer Marcos Ignacio Madia must have gone all Sigourney Weaver in the jungle from Gorillas in the Mist on us, because he just went and designed a line of speakers that look and grow (by stacking) like trees. There’s a woofer, midrange and tweeters, all of which you can stack and…hrm… grow as you expand the collection. You can even, theoretically, turn the speakers to face different directions as you experiment with sound. Which is …

Yoshi Akai’s Wireless Catcher senses nearby wireless waves, makes music (video)

What’s cute, cuddly, and makes all sorts of bizarro noises when it senses wireless waves? Yoshi Akai’s Wireless Catcher, of course! This analog synth contraption is simplistic in nature and complex in design, utilizing an onboard antenna to sense WiFi signals and then alter the sounds being outputted depending on signal strength and direction. It’s not exactly the symphony that Bach forgot to write, but it’s certainly beautiful in its own nerdy way. Have a look at the video past the break, won’t you? Kipsch’s black / white Image S4i and S4 earbuds filtering out to stores

We told you they’d be coming (as we discovered during our tour of Klipsch’s Indianapolis campus), and now those deliciously black / white colored Image S4 and Image S4i earbuds are finally making their way out to the general populace. Vann’s already has the Image S4 in white up for pre-order, while Apple stores are set to receive their Image S4i (includes an in-line microphone for iPhone yappin’) any day now. The former will sell for $79 while the latter demands an extra Jackson, but it’s safe to say that either will put Apple’s own white earbuds to shame. A Robotic Band With a Wiimote-Wielding Frontman [Robots]

In what may be a precursor to the hippie/robot showdown we’ve always hoped for, musician Patrick Flanagan has founded Jazari, a three-piece robotic drum circle with some impressive grooves. If that’s not fun enough, it’s all controlled by two Wiimotes. Last week we looked at Marv , a robotic vibraphone that banged out an impressive rendition of “Flight of the Bumblebee.” This week’s robotunes come courtesy of an ensemble. Flanagan wields two Wiimotes to control the rhythm, volume, and pitch of the three different drums. The D-pad determines which part of the drum is struck (and thus the sound it makes) while…

Sirius Stiletto 2 experiences final curtain call

The Sirius Stiletto 2 portable satellite radio seems to have reached the end of the road, and if you want one of these, it would be pretty hard to locate since only a few areas have them, and in dwindling stocks to boot. The discontinuation of the Sirius Stiletto 2 could be due to public sentiment moving away from dedicated hardware for portable satellite radio, alongside Sirius XM turning to the adaptation of current devices in order to provide portable audio capability, including its dedicated Internet radio app for iPhone and iPod touch owners and the XM SkyDock. In gaming parlance, GG Sirius Stiletto 2 and good night! Permalink: Sirius Stiletto 2 experiences final curtain call from Ubergizmo | Hot
