BPhone Is Netbook And Mobile Phone

It’s certainly not your run-of-the-mill cell phone, but do you think the BPhone has a shot at all? This hybrid gadget will be combining the features of a mobile phone and a netbook. There isn’t any mention of the OS that will be powering the device, but if trends are anything to go by, maybe it will be powered by Google’s Android? Would you get such a device as your main mobile phone, or do you think that netbooks and phones should remain separate? AA-powered Netbook NorhTec Gecko Edubook hands-on

We published photos of the NorhTec Gecko Edubook back in May but this AA batteries Netbook has since been spotted in the wild and our friends from Liliupting have been able to play with it. So how is it? Well, it feels like any other Netbook (although a bit thicker), but with a couple of twists: for one, it looks like you can charge the AA by plugging directly from the wall to the computer - no power brick involved. Secondly, the construction is very modular. You can change the CPU if you want to. So what do you think? Is using AA batteries hot or not? How would you use it? Permalink: AA-powered Netbook

Creative Gigaworks HD50i speakers

Creative’s Gigaworks HD50i speakers does not only sound and work great thanks to a combination of high definition drivers and Titanium supertweeters, you also get an integrated BasXPort that does away with a third bulky subwoofer that takes up even more desk real estate than you’d like. As an added incentive to pick this puppy up, you can also dock your iPod to listen to your favorite tunes in loud and perfect clarity - as perfect as $169.99 can net you, anyways. Each purchase comes with a remote control, so there is no need to get up from the couch each time you want to skip a track. Blackberry 9700 Review

Because the Blackberry Bold 9700 has been called the “best Blackberry ever” by some, the excitement and expectations around this phone is high. It is true that the bold 9700 represents the apogee of successive refinements that Research In Motion (RIM) has done on its phones since the release of the original Bold. The Blackberry 9700 inherits from improvements made to the Blackberry Curve 8900 and the Blackberry Tour, among others. There are small changes in design, and important changes (for the better) in terms of performance, but overall, the Blackberry Bold 9700 feels similar to the Tour or the 8900. So, where does this phone stand? Let’s find out. Permalink: Blackberry 9700 Review from Ubergizmo | Hot: Blackberry Bold 9700 Review

Pixel Bacteria Art

This just goes to show that scientists love Space Invaders too. It may not look like a perfect alien from Space Invaders, but considering that it’s made from glowing bacteria, we’re sure that you’re willing to ignore the imperfections. These pixels are actually genetically engineered bacteria, which are credited to Team Osaka, at the nanobiology laboratories at the University of Osaka, Japan. Now you know what they do late at night at the labs, right? Permalink: Pixel Bacteria Art from Ubergizmo | Hot: Nokia Booklet 3G Review

LaCie 2Big USB 3.0 RAID drive

Just like there can never be enough handbags and shoes for women, so the same it is for computer users - you can never have enough storage space. LaCie steps in with their aptly-named 2Big USB 3.0 RAID drive which is able to hit a theoretical throughput speed of 275 MB/s, which is blazing fast by any standards. All you need to do is make sure that you computer is running on a USB 3.0-compatible motherboard or has a PCI-E card. There is no word on pricing or availability where the LaCie 2Big is concerned, but if this is the first effort from LaCie, we can’t help but drool in anticipation of future iterations that will push the envelope even further. Gotta love the design on this device. [ Press…

New Four Thirds Camera From Panasonic?

Is Panasonic lining up a new Four Thirds (not Micro Four Thirds) DSLR camera to be released sometime soon? From the patent application , you can see that it will have live view mode, along with the traditional optical viewfinder. Other specs include a CMOS sensor, surprisingly no video recording, and a vibration reduction feature. In case you aren’t familiar with it, the Four Thirds standard retains a mirror arrangement and interchangeable lenses, but the size of image sensor and camera body can be much smaller than your normal DSLR cameras. There isn’t any pricing or release date revealed just yet, but perhaps Panasonic will be sharing more information on it at CES 2010. Remember to follow our coverage of…

Sony HID-C10 arrives at FCC

The folks at the FCC are currently scrutinizing the Sony HID-C10 (HID stands for “Home Information Device”), and hopefully it will be passed so that we can have a look at it sometime next year. There is scant information concerning the HID-C10, but we believe that it will be hooked to TV, taking advantage of its 801.11b/g capability assuming its Wi-Fi certification is approved. Currently, the lines are extremely blur when it comes to the functionality of the Sony HID-C10, but hopefully as time progresses, we’ll be able to see and hear more of what the HID-C10 is full well capable of.
