You’ll Be Able To Purchase Your iPad Data Plan Directly From The iPad Itself

Users who are planning to purchase Apple’s iPad with a 3G modem probably already know that AT&T is offering two data plan prices for the device, which are $14.99/month for 250MB or $29.99 for unlimited data. While it’s not too hard to walk into an AT&T store to request for the change in plan, it seems that Apple has gone one step further, and made things easy for everybody. You’ll be able to sign up, check your data usage, manage your account, and even cancel your service directly from the iPad. Since there is no contract binding you to a specific data plan, you’ll be able to switch between plans as and when you wish, which is …

Barnes & Noble promises B&N eReader app for iPad near launch

Need a bit more evidence that the e-book download business is a whole lot different than the music download business? Then look no further than Barnes & Noble , which has just announced that it plans to make its B&N eReader app available for the Apple iPad “around the time” of the device’s launch. Details are otherwise a bit light, but the app will be free, and is apparently “designed specifically” for the iPad, giving you access to all of the books, magazines and newspapers available in Barnes & Noble’s eBookstore. Could a Kindle app be far behind? Barnes & Noble promises B&N eReader app for iPad near launch originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 11 Mar 2010 12:29:00 EST. Apple, Siemens and Sisvel patent infringement leads to CeBIT booth raid

Mama always said that some folks just never learn , and we reckon there’s plenty of wisdom to be had from that very statement. Year after year , German police are called in to raid select booths at CeBIT ( and IFA , to be fair), and yet again we’ve seen a booth cleared out at the request of powerful lawyers from a few companies you may have heard of. Word on the street has it that Apple, Siemens and Sisvel were all kvetching over patent infringements made by an unnamed company exhibiting at last week’s show, and within an hour or so of the fuzz showing up, the whole thing was…

Apple patent filings detail methods of keeping your devices cool

Topics: Apple Apple is a pretty innovative company, and here at TUAW we receive a lot of tips about new patents that have been filed by the company. While not all of the patents make it into products, Apple is assiduous about filing for patent protection on their intellectual property. This week featured 4 patent applications from Apple that are all about keeping your devices cool. The first, titled ” Methods and Apparatus for Cooling Electronic Devices Using Flow Sensors ,” talks about using tiny sensors to determine the air velocity in a device and then adjusting fan speeds and/or computing power to keep the device cool. The second application seems so obvious it’s surprising nobody has filed it before. …

Steve Jobs: iPad Won’t Support iPhone Tethering

Not one to mince words, Steve Jobs squashed all hope of the iPad supporting iPhone tethering for wireless internet access with one word — “No.” The succinct answer was communicated by Jobs via email (from his iPhone) to Jezper Söderlund of Sweden who emailed Jobs to ask, “Will the wifi-only version somehow support tethering thru my iPhone?” 9to5Mac has both emails in question, along with email header information, and all indications point to the one word buzz-kill response being legit. You can read the text of the email inquiry and Jobs’ response below: Söderlund’s email: I’ll keep it short. I’m Jezper from Sweden, a long time Apple fan, …

JOYCE shows off line of vanity iPhone cases, includes a rock

JOYCE has just come forth to show us a whole slew of iPhone cases, some pretty normal and others not so normal. The cases above are designed by a whole slew of artists like Rick Owens, Dries Van Noten, Marni, Etro, Bless and Anna Sui. Anyways, like I said there are some normal looking cases with some pretty awesome looking designs but on the other hand there’s not so normal cases. Not so normal in the sense that it’s shaped like a rock and another has an almost burned texture to it. via gizmodo Related Posts Today on…

Judge suspends Apple/Nokia lawsuit pending ITC investigation

Topics: Hardware , Software , Apple With all of the furor around the gigantic patent lawsuit that Apple dropped on HTC this week , you might be forgiven for forgetting about the first big patent smackdown of the year, the lawsuit that Nokia laid at Apple’s door . But a judge in Delaware hasn’t — he ordered a suspension to both the case and its countersuit while the International Trade Commission works out the complaints between the two companies. Clearly Nokia and Apple have it out for one another, but apparently they’re going to take it one step at a time. Once the ITC has completed its probe, which was scheduled…
